The Office of Government and Community Relation's federal unit, the Office of Federal Relations (OFR), is based in Washington, DC to serve as the Institute's eyes and ears in the nation's capital. With a mission to promote the Institute's strategic vision and goals as they pertain to federal research and education programs and policies, the OFR works to identify and develop opportunities to increase the Institute's visibility, influence and support with federal decision makers, the Congress, the higher education community at large and national education and research policy organizations. The OFR is directly engaged with Georgia Tech's administration, faculty, staff and students to keep them informed of opportunities in Washington and to influence policies that have the potential to affect the Institute.

The OFR's goals include the amplification of Georgia Tech's voice as a technology policy leader, the increase and diversification of our federal funding profile and the participation of more of our faculty in federal advisory roles. As the nation tries to solve pressing challenges in areas such as health care, energy and cybersecurity, the OFR works with federal officials and others in Washington to ensure they are aware of Georgia Tech's cutting edge solutions.
